For the four years prior to Barron's death from influenza on 23 November 1964, Robin Tanner persuaded her to take part in some of the Ministry of Education Courses he ran at Dartington Hall which focused on the place of art and craft in primary education, and it was for these that Barron prepared a talk 'My Life as a Block-Printer'.
