David Leach

No 43: Teapot, 1981 (P.82.10)

This cane-handled teapot is recognisable as a classic David Leach piece, perfected over decades. It is thrown in porcelain of the potter's own recipe (marketed by Podmore's) and cut with very slightly curving flutes on the vertical part of the body. The glaze is a pale green celadon, inside and out. The teapot relies on the sharply cut flutes for texture and surface interest which come from the fall of light on the surface.
