Katharine Pleydell-Bouverie

No 26: Bowl, 1936 (P.74.185)

Made at her first workshop on the Pleydell-Bouverie family estate at Coleshill in Wiltshire, this small stoneware bowl is an example of two closely-toned glazes working together. The bowl is richly glazed in a brown-grey box ash all over and on the exterior are subtle brushstrokes or petal shapes, in magnetic iron oxide, growing upwards from the foot.
