Description The fronts of this pair of attached pockets are each made from one piece of plain weave linen and embroidered with coloured wools in curving stems, leaves and flowers rising from a vase or basket with handles. The backs are each made of one piece of coarser twill weave linen, the same linen used to line the fronts. The tapes are linen. The crudely stitched letters and numbers on the back of the left pocket are not by the original maker. They are more likely to refer to a later owner or dealer in the time before the pockets came to Worthing Museum and Art Gallery in 1966.
