Description Begun 1172, with an upper octagonal stage completed in the mid-fifteenth century, the 84 metre Torre dei Lamberti was drawn by Mackintosh from the small piazzetta at the western edge of the Piazza delle Erbe, Verona's main market square. The tower forms part of the Palazzo della Ragione. Its lower part is constructed of alternate courses of brick and stone, then entirely of brick. The belfry stage has arches formed of alternate brick and stone divided into three lights with marble shafts.
