Description Daubigny chose to abandon the traditional academically accepted landscapes in preference for quiet river scenes. Daubigny travelled widely in search of landscape motifs. One of his favourite spots was the river Oise which he painted often from his botin - the floating studio he launched in 1857 . Although the locality of this painting is not known, it may well be on or near the river Oise.
