Description The setting is architectural though with some landscape showing on the left. In the foreground the Madonna in pink-red and blue is seated and displaying the Christ child on her knee. Behind and to the right stands Joseph with his arms crossed before his breast. On the left three shepherds gaze reverently at the child. The nearest shepherd, in light-green and red, strokes a lamb lying on the ground below. Above this grouping winged cherubs carry a long ribbon.
