Description The background is forest but with a profusion of fruit and flowers growing and lying on the ground. There are two gaps in the trees. That on the left shows a distant hut and a hermit praying within while on the right dogs gather about a fallen stag. In centre foreground sits Proserpine, nude but with a cloth of rich design across her lap. Above her head winged putti hold up a cloth. To the left Ceres, clothed in yellow, kneels and offers a sheaf of corn as the infant Plutus kneels in front. To the right another attendant bears a basket of cabbages on her head while others collect the harvest from the trees and from the ground.
