Description Rasmussen studied from 1864 to 1867 at the Dusseldorf Academy. His favoured subjects were the fjord landscapes of his native Norway. He became one of the most productive fjord painters of his generation, depicting everyday life in a sympathetic impressionist manner. He moved to Berlin in 1899 and only spent the summers in his homeland, but while there he was able to sell his works directly to visiting tourists. After 1900 he became strongly influenced by Adelsteen Normann.
