Description This is a copy of the famous wall painting by Leonardo da Vinci showing Jesus eating with his disciples, from the refectory of the Dominican convent of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. The subject of the Last Supper was particularly suited to the room where monks take their meals. It is a faithful rendition apart from the addition of an overturned salt cellar in front of the fourth figure from the left. The painter Grinaschi, a little known nineteenth-century Italian artist, may have copied this painting as part of his art education, although the size suggests it was a commission.
