Description The portrait painter Louis Fabron was born in Turin and studied in Naples before going on to spend several years in Paris where he exhibited portraits at the Salon from 1877-79. He won several awards. There are several portraits commissioned by Francis Chardon of his family and friends in the collection. Mrs Chardon was the mother of Francis Chardon, the trust's benefactor. She was the daughter of Signor A. M. Rapallo who, by means of ships and much wealth, assisted in placing the Emperor Louis Napoleon on the throne of France. Maria Theresa married Edouard Chardon in 1864, when she was just sixteen. Francis was born the next year in India and after his education he followed his mother to London and eventually to Llandudno.
