Description This painting of flowers, including roses and tulips in a blue and white porcelain vase, is possibly the work of Amsterdam flower painter, Anthony Claesz the Younger. The signature certainly resembles that of Claesz II. However, Claesz's work was more broadly painted and the hard edged style of this painting suggests that the signature may be false. Claesz is thought to have studied with Balthasar van der Ast in Utrecht. Between 1632 and 1635, he travelled, one of his destinations being England. This painting is a pair with 34.250.1.
