Description A figure of a man who may be a naturalist is surrounded by objects that refer to the 'Fruits of the Sea'. These include rare and unusual shells, coral and fish. He is wearing a robe trimmed with ermine which shows he may be an academic. The original label suggests that the work may be by a German artist and was painted in the seventeenth century. The work is more likely to be an eighteenth-century work.
