|Title||Basic Vocabulary (I) - Teapot|
|Description||This print was intended as the first in a series of prints to be titled' Basic Vocabulary'. The series was to explore the descriptive similarities between common place objects and the chinese character(s) for that object.
In this case the right hand character ‘hu' or ‘pot' appears to be the perfect pictogram for a pot, clearly showing the handle, lid and spout. The left hand character ‘cha' or ‘tea' defines the pot as a ‘teapot'.
Due to the pressure on time the remainder of the series did not develop beyond the drawing stage. A second edition of the print was published by Daler-Rowney Ltd. In 1995 to celebrate the launch of their ‘system 3 ‘ water-soluble screen printing inks and was allied to the production of a video by school staff to support the launch of the range of inks and allied products in Europe. Copies of the print were placed in the offices of Daler-Rowney agents throughout Europe.''
