History 'Beano' (Katherine Pleydell-Bouverie) writes to 'My dear Rik' (Bernard Leach), congratulating him on the Victoria and Albert Museum exhibition of which she has heard from Michael (Cardew) and Henry Hammond at the 'Bath committee meeting'. She commiserates with him on his ear trouble and finishes with a typical 'Beano' end piece: 'Yes, you are right about old age: it is a nuisance. But, after all, one can only escape it by dying young, which probably prevents us from having a lot of fun!'.
