Inscription Recto - As title and, in pen - "Back of handle"; "engraved"; "this formed of very thin silver stamped repousse and chased with the frame laid over it made up of wire and the leaves at the top engraved on the body of the jug". The figure "5" in purple pencil.

Material Pen and black ink (though appearance now is blue) on paper. Paper mounted on heavy card.
Notes Vive la Renaissance - pseudonym of W.R. Lethaby in capitals at bottom right. Pasted on card. In portfolio with items F.130.1-4, F.131.1-3, F.132.1-2.
Object Notes Design for a claret jug in silver, presumably to make a set with the salad bowl, fruit dish and ewer and dish (see F.130.1 - F.130.3.2). Shows side elevation; view detail of spout and lid; back and detail of handle and a detail of the very Arcadian decorative relief. Shows influence of 16th century Anglo-Flemish traditions (hence pseudonym perhaps).
