Description A half length self-portrait of the artist, in a red velvet coat with a fur collar, with brushes and palette in his left hand. Another, later, self portrait by Soldi is at Newburgh Priory (109 x 95 cm, probably circa 1760), and the likenesses are consistant with each other. Andrea Soldi (1703–1771) was an Italian portraitist active in Britain. He was born in Florence and came to England in about 1736, working mainly for noble families; he died in London.
