ColD appointment Kenneth Hume, below, has been appointed industrial offcer for the light engineering industries, including gas and electric domestic equipment, and radio and television. For three years he was head of design and development at Abbott Brothers (Southall) Ltd. and previously lectured in product design engineering at Leicester College of Art and Technology. He succeeds Peter Williams, who has joined Osram-GEC Ltd.
Consultant director Ben Fether has been appointed a consultant director of design to Irish Ropes Ltd. He will coordinate and supervise all design programmes within the group's six divisions, of which Tintawn Carpeting is the leading subsidiary. Mr Fether is a partner of the IDEA Partnership. His previous design work includes the interior of York University and a research project on cooking appliances for the Gas Council.
On the board Allan Mallinson, chairman of the Irish Colour Council and managing director of Navan Carpets Ltd. has been elected to the board of management of the British Colour Council.
Director J. B. Scott has been elected a director of Industrial and Trade Fairs Ltd. He is deputy chairman of the USSR section of the London Chamber of Commerce and deputy chairman of the East European Trade Council.
Award Maurice Juggins has won the 1967 Yale Award under the title Future requirements for locks and architectural hardware, with particular reference to the needs of industrialised building. The award takes the form of a three week evaluation tour of the United States.
Change of names Ekco-Ensign Electric Ltd has changed its name to Ekco Lighting Ltd. Smith Corona has changed its name to SCM (United Kingdom) Ltd.
