The Millais Gallery is located in the Sir John Everett Millais building of Southampton Institute, together with the academic faculties of Media Arts and Design. The Millais Gallery was opened in June 1996 to coincide with the opening of an exhibition organised in association with Southampton City Art Gallery to mark the centenary of Millais's death in August 1896.
Following the success of the Millais Centenary exhibition the Millais Gallery has, since its opening shown a variety of art, design and media exhibitions. The Millais Gallery aims to continue to focus on the work of young artists, designers, makers and curators; exhibitions of particular interest to the local and regional community; student exhibitions drawn from the Institute's art, design and media practice and theory courses; and historical/research-based exhibitions.
If you would like any further information about the Millais Gallery's exhibition programming procedure or would like to make an exhibition proposal, please contact the Exhibition Organiser: millais.gallery@solent.ac.uk
