Silk and silk velvet were favourite materials for evening wear, while crÍpe de Chine, chiffon and Rodier wool were frequently used for scarves and stoles. (No. 1, 2, 3, 4) Balloon cotton from the First World War proved popular in summer for light curtains and dresses.
