No 20: Bowl, 1969 (P.74.3)
Although modest in size - measuring only 13cm in diameter - this thrown porcelain bowl is one of the potter's finest pieces. It shows Henry Hammond's ability to use the contours of a pot as a canvas for painting on and features waving grasses and stems, a streaked sky and an a full moon in outline. These images are painted in cobalt, chromite and iron pigments on a dry clay glaze.
