| Description | Duval was a Swiss landscape painter. This work offers an atmospheric depiction of a heavily wooded forest through which a small brook meanders. The roots of the trees have been unearthed by the stream, which displays power in its gentle but persistent flow. The stream is however dwarfed by the tall trees, whose canopy limits the light that is able to penetrate the forest. | |
