| Description | Claude Guilleminet was born in Paris 1821 and is documented until 1860. His favourite subjects were landscapes, still lifes, farms, poultry, and animals. He made his debut at the Salon in 1857. Guilleminet often depicted unusual groupings of poultry. Here a duck and a turkey drink from a basin of water. Behind, chickens and a cockerel stand on a wicker poultry basket. To the left there is a chicken coop and a hen rests on the ladders that lead up to it. It was not uncommon for Guilleminet to add more exotic birds such as a peacock to his compositions, but the farmyard setting tends to be consistent. | |
