| Location Creation Site | Italy (probably Bologna) | |
| Subject | Illuminated manuscripts; | |
| Material | Paint, ink and gold leaf on parchment. | |
| Notes | A fragment from a musical manuscript, judging by the size of this 'miniature' (combined with the size of the text, musical notation and staves), it does seem likely that the manuscript was a monastic choir book (probably a Gradual or Antiphonal). This scene of the Virgin Mary's death, however, is more often than not found in Graduals. This is probably from the same manuscript as F.142-3 and F.13b. This would have originally been part of the Central School's Teaching Examples Collection. | |
| Object Notes | This scene of the Virgin Mary's death is often found in Graduals. Image of the Virgin Mary, within a decorative border surrounded by the Apostles (all of whom have halos), a manuscript, Christ (halo with orange cross) and a small child (also with a halo). Verso - black textualis rotunda script (Latin) and musical notation on red staves. | |
