| Notes | This seems to be a comparison between two similar styles of architectural motifs which may have been discovered by Lethaby on one of his early visits to France (1880 & 1882). It was during this time that he was investigating mediaeval and Renaissance architecture. In portfolio with items F.130.1-4, F.131.1-3, F.132.1-2, (Goldsmiths' Hall designs, made between 1882 and 1884.) |
|
| Object Notes | Two plan details taken from the churches/cathedrals of two Northern French towns. There are drawings from Rouen which have been dated to his first Soane tour in 1880. However, he didn't visit Chartres until his second Soane tour in 1882. Rubens states that between the years of 1900-1914, Lethaby and his wife made annual trips to the continent. | |
