See Inscriptions - A note to the maker. The feet mentioned in this note were made for a table designed by Lethaby for Avon Tyrell (see F.69.11 and .12), made to order by Farmer and Brindley. The Avon Tyrell table had turned legs and feet, the design very similar to this one (and using the same brass feet). This design may have been for Avon Tyrell, for obvious reasons (ie. the design is the same as other Avon Tyrell furnishings) or for Stanmore Hall, where Lethaby designed all the furnishings in wood. (Hence the two inferred dates). |
