This drawing was made by Lethaby around five years after his appointment as chief clerk in the offices of Norman Shaw R.A. Shaw was one of two architects involved in the design of Dawpool House in Cheshire, the other being a J.F.Doyle. See rest of R.79.1-4.
Before employing him as his chief clerk, Shaw had expressed great admiration for Lethaby's drawings. |

Reproduction of a drawing by Lethaby (of a building designed by Shaw and Doyle) published in The Architect, issue dated 25th October 1884. Bottom drawing of two shows "Dawpool, Cheshire. Design for Chimney Piece in Picture Gallery" by Lethaby. The top drawing appears to have been (originally) drawn by Shaw himself (inscribed in freehand with Shaw's name etc). See also R.79.1, .3 and .4. Probably reduced in size from the original. |
